Idolatry

I was reminded this evening of the surpassing greatness of Christ, a topic that has for a few weeks been sorely missing from my mind. As the repercussions and implications of idolatry were examined, I was stirred by the confessions and encouragements of fellow believers. Thinking, processing, praying, I found my own words returning to my mind, words from this very platform, reminding me that whatever else may be, Christ is the only true source of satisfaction.

Thanks be to God that though the inclination of my flesh is only evil continually, He has purposed my life to bring Him glory. It's astounding that I ever forget what He has accomplished.

Go and proclaim these words toward the north, and say:

‘Return, backsliding Israel,’ says the LORD;
‘I will not cause My anger to fall on you.
For I am merciful,’ says the LORD;
‘I will not remain angry forever.
Only acknowledge your iniquity,
That you have transgressed against the LORD your God,
And have scattered your charms
To alien deities under every green tree,
And you have not obeyed My voice,’ says the LORD. Jeremiah 3:12-13
